Headlined by Olympic champion and Phoenix-native Jade Carey and fellow Olympic medalists Hezly Rivera, Frederick Richard and Stephen Nedoroscik, more than 100 of the country’s best men’s and women’s artistic gymnasts will head to Mortgage Matchup Center for the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships August 6-9 in downtown Phoenix. 

Six Olympians and more than 16 junior and senior World Championship team members are among those registered to vie for national titles and USA Gymnastics National Team rosters in Phoenix. The Championships also serve as a qualifying event for the 2026 Artistic World Championships U.S. team that will compete Oct. 17-25 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. 

Top seniors take national stage

Carey returns to her hometown for her first U.S. Championships competition since 2024. The 2020 Olympic floor exercise champion and 2024 team gold medalist and vault bronze medalist will be joined by a women’s field that includes every defending U.S. champion from 2025. Also a 2024 Olympic team gold medalist, Rivera arrives in Phoenix as the defending U.S. champion in the all-around, uneven bars (tie), balance beam & floor exercise. Adding depth to the women’s field are 2025 U.S. uneven bars champion co-champion Skye Blakely and 2025 U.S. vault champion and World Championships all-around silver medalist Leanne Wong, both of whom own multiple World Championships medals.

Paris Olympic men’s team bronze medalists Richard and Nedoroscik, who also won Olympic pommel horse bronze, headline a field that includes 2020 Olympians Yul Moldauer and Shane Wiskus in their return to the national championships.  Patrick Hoopes and Taylor Burkhart enter as the lone returning 2025 U.S champions, with Hoopes taking the pommel horse title and Burkhart the horizontal bar gold medal last year in New Orleans. It was a big year on pommel for the Air Force Academy alumnus Hoopes, who also won the 2025 NCAA title and World Championships bronze medal on the apparatus.

The senior fields also will feature some of the nation’s top rising stars. Top new talent for the men includes two medalists from the 2025 Junior World Championships: still rings champion Dante Reive and horizontal bar silver and parallel bars bronze medalist Danila Leykin, both of whom will compete as seniors in Phoenix. Athletes to watch in the women’s field include 2026 U.S. Classic all-around and floor exercise champion Reese Esponda; 2026 Pan American Championships all-around, floor and team gold medalist Claire Pease; and 2026 Pan Am Champs all-around and American Cup team silver medalist Charliegh Bullock.

Juniors set to shine

Every junior all-around title is back on the market in 2026, and athletes will be gunning for each podium. After winning the 16-year-old men’s title in New Orleans, Jakson Kurecki aims for the 17-year-old gold medal, while his 2026 DTB Pokal Team Challenge teammates of Andres Aranda, Jason Hao, Bo McCrea and Nixon Miles, who won team silver alongside Kurecki in Germany, are some of the top contenders for the 16-year-old championship. 

With 2025 junior U.S. champion Caroline Moreau now competing as a senior, the women’s junior all-around will crown a new champion. Leading the hunt are 2026 junior U.S Classic all-around and floor gold medalistAddalye VanGrinsven and 2026 Pan American Championships all-around, vault and floor champion Amia Pugh-Banks.
